| KeenIce
Unit for making Curling Ice |
|
We
have supplied a de-ionising installation
to various ice rinks with which they have
now made the ice for the Curling season.
they are also using de-ionised water for
"flooding" and "pebbling".
The demand for water in an ice rink is for
large volumes over a short period of time.
A flow of at least 10 gallons per minute
is we believe required.
The
most noticeable changes in ice quality are:-
- Reduction
of "Waxy Surface", in many cases
elimination.
- Reduction
of wet surface during skating sessions.
- Better
ice for performance skating, ice hockey,
speed skating and figure skating.
- Reduced
abrasion - this particularly affects curling
stones.
There
is also a reduction in power requirements
to make the ice. As this is affected by
other factors, insulation of the building,
location etc. it is not yet possible to
quantify this.
